We survived

Emily's 7th Safari Sleepover went without a hitch. We had 14 guests, and 12 of them stayed the entire night! We had no one leave in the middle of the night this year, and for some it was their first sleepover. The kids started out making name tags that had numbers on the back (numbers were for determinnig who goes next with the games). The name tags came in handy cuz some of the girls didn't know each other (and who are we kidding, helped mom keep everyone straight LOL). They colored some Cheetah pages and also made animal masks.

After that we did the "poop" game. I got a very inexpensive litter box, filled it up with cheerios and unwrapped mini tootsie rolls (for the poop). They had to be blind folded and try to find as many poops as they could in 30 seconds. Then got to exchange them for wrapped candy to put in their goody bags. The second game was safari animal charades. I made index cards with animal pictures on them and they had to act out the animal on the card (this was a hoot). They all did the same thing, crawl on four legs. But they loved it. The third game was pass the ball of yarn (kind of like hot potato). Between all the games we had dinner, which Emily was very specific about, Little Cesar's pizza with mandarin oranges, then we had cake. After the cake we served up some ice cream which they had to eat like cats, with no hands. This was hilarious and they all got a kick out of getting all dirty!

Then is was p.j. and sleeping bag set up time. This was fun, we set all 12 girls up in the guest room, they put on a movie. Most of them were passed out by 10:30, but a few were still up at 11:45, which at that point, it was time to tell them, eyes closed! I slept on the couch just in case, but no one got up! YIPPEEE. At about 6:15 I started hearing whispers and 6:45 the first couple of girls left the room. I made breakfast menus (which was a big hit last year and requested by a few girls this year). They put their names on the menu and circled the items they wanted (waffles, cereal, bacon, donuts and drinks). This helps so much with getting the plates on the table while they play. 9:00 was pick up and the parents were here on time. I think everyone had so much fun! Emily was exhausted and really just vegged on the couch all day, as did we all! I know at one point during the evening, I was like "I am not doing this again next year", but you know what... It is one night a year, and although it is alot of work, it truly makes her happy. It is cheaper then any other party I could have done and she truly loves it. We did survive!

I went for a 5 mile run a week ago Sunday (the 15th i think) and my knee started bothering me for the first time during mile 5. I was getting nervous and then at the party I must have twisted it or something, cuz it was really sore! I woke up this last Sunday (the 22nd) and it seemed ok. So, this weekend I was suppose to bump up my run to 6 miles, I was afraid I couldn't do it, but when I started running it wasn't bothering me. I did my 6 miles! I couldn't believe it! I did almost a 10K, which is great since I am registered to do one this Thanksgiving morning! I was so happy and am so excited about the turkey day run. It is called the turkey trot. Robert and the kids are coming out and cheer me on. My first official run, getting me prepared for the P.F Chang's 1/2 marathon in January. Leave it to me tho, and my weird flippin body, even with ALL this running, I can't seem to drop any lbs! UGH! But I do feel I am getting stronger. After the 1/2 I can mark that off my bucket list! I will survive it. Pain or no pain, even if I have to walk some, I will finish!

Saturday afternoon, the kids started getting sick! UGH. Emily seems to always get sick the week of Thanksgiving. Anyhoo, I am keeping them both home today for some R&R and I am going to start cleaning up the house a bit for Thanksgiving. Mom and Casey are coming for dinner and my cousin Theresa is coming in from Northern CA. She will be staying with us for a couple of days.

That is it for now.

Loves and Hugs XOXOXOX

Terri
